PRESCRIPTION STIMULANTS

Prescriptions account for the second most abused kind of illicit drug following marijuana.  Though they have a great deal of beneficial use when taken as prescribed and by the people for whom they are meant, addiction and other unwanted side effects if used by anyone else.  
 

STIMULANTS

Stimulants include amphetamines (Adderal and Dexedrine), methylphenidates (Concerta, Ritalin), as well as some prescription diet drugs including Didrex, Bontril, Preludin, Fastin, Adipex P, Ionomin, and Meridia.

OVERDOSE SYMPTOMS

- Rapid Rise in Heart Rate and Blood Pressure
- Rise in Body Temperature
- Disorientation
- Irregular Breathing
- Severe Hypertension
- Delirium
- Cardiac Arrest (Heart Attack)
- Seizure
- Stroke
- Convulsions
- Loss of Consciousness

 

WHAT TO DO FOR SOMEONE OVERDOSING

- Call for Medical Assistance Immediately
- Stay with the person until help arrives
- Make sure there is nothing around them if they are seizing.
